Dads, Books, and Graduations

As Father’s Day approaches this weekend, I can’t stop thinking about the beaming dads, grandfathers, and father-figures who attended our Book Babies 2022 Graduation earlier this month. They walked across the stage alongside their graduates, cheered from their seats, posed for silly photos, and carried around bags of children’s books while the graduates played — all to celebrate a child’s love of literacy and books.

But the graduation was so much more than just one day. For these dads and father-figures, the graduation was the culmination of 5 years of work within the Book Babies program. From the moment their future Book Babies graduate was born, they worked to instill a love of learning and reading.

And now, as their 5-year-old transitions to kindergarten and beyond, those proud fathers will be there to help with homework, navigate the good and hard times, and continue to share countless storytimes.

It’s because of you, our Book Harvest family, that we are able to provide opportunities for storytimes between dads/father-figures and their children. It’s because of you that we are able to partner with parents as they foster a love of reading and learning in their homes. Thank you!

Happy Father’s Day!
