A Durham nonprofit that looks to provide books for children is looking to make a statewide impact thanks to a collaboration with Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina.
The goal is to engage with families in all of North Carolina’s 100 counties. Blue Cross NC will offer free children’s books provided by Book Harvest at events across the state.
“At Book Harvest, we know that literacy begins at birth, in the home, powered by parents and nourished by books,” said Ginger Young, the founder of Book Harvest.
The goal is that Blue Cross NC, working closely with Book Harvest, can ensure that families across the state have an abundant supply of children’s books.
“This partnership underscores the power of books to bring families together and promote early literacy and health outcomes for children,” said Angela Boykin, CEO of Healthy Blue, Blue Cross NC’s Medicaid Managed Care plan.
The partnership is a big leap for Book Harvest, which is looking for ways to make sure children have access to books.
