What We Believe

With programs that are grounded in evidence, Book Harvest believes that literacy starts at birth, in the home, powered by parents, and nourished with books.

Books Build Brains

When children have access to an abundance of books, amazing things happen. Vocabularies flourish. Empathy thrives. Curiosity ignites. Children learn. And when children have access to books that reflect and affirm their lived experience, they become lifelong readers!

Parents Are Superheroes

Parents and caregivers are their children's first and most important brain builders, teachers, advocates, and nurturers. Simple activities woven into everyday interactions between parent and child - talking, singing, reading - build the foundation that lasts a lifetime.

Learning Happens Everywhere

Learning doesn't just happen in the classroom. It starts at birth - and learning opportunities are all around us, all the time. Laundromats, barbershops, waiting rooms, grocery store, bus stops: informal learning spaces are ready to be transformed into potent, joy-filled opportunities to shape young hearts and minds, ensuring that every child can thrive.
