Maggie is a literacy coach for our Book Babies program in Wake County, providing books and literacy-rich home visits to children and their families from birth and supporting core administrative processes.

Maggie has a Bachelors degree in Education, Early Childhood/English as a Second Language, and is currently pursuing an M.Ed. With a background that encompasses classroom teaching, community engagement, and program management, Maggie is committed to making a positive impact in the lives of children and families, one educational experience at a time. She is passionate about promoting family and community engagement, trauma-informed teaching, and culturally relevant and student-centered pedagogy.

Maggie is excited to be a part of the Book Harvest community of passionate individuals committed to promoting literacy and justice for all. Her passion is creating fun and engaging reading experiences for kids, encouraging their love for books, and building meaningful relationships with families.

Her favorite children’s book is Don't Touch My Hair by Sharee Miller. It tells the story of a young girl who tries to escape all the curious hands that want to touch her curly hair.

Maggie believes that together we can all put the “LIT” in Literacy!
