Anneke Oppewal
Manager of Executive Strategy and Special Projects
As Manager of Executive Strategy and Special Projects, Anneke Oppewal serves as a key strategic partner and the execution arm for the Chief Operating Officer. Since joining Book Harvest in October 2023, she has leveraged her extensive experience in education to drive organizational performance, managing cross-functional projects and designing the systems necessary for program development and scale. Anneke ensures the COO’s vision for mission impact is translated into tangible results by streamlining workflows and managing complex initiative timelines from conception to completion.
Drawing on her eight years as a middle school Spanish teacher—where she honed her skills in curriculum development and was honored as Orange County Schools' 2020 Teacher of the Year!—Anneke now develops detailed project plans and tracks deliverables for various national programs. She serves as a vital liaison between Book Harvest and its expansion sites, building long-term partner relationships based on trust and providing the technical support needed for success. Her exceptional systems-thinking and organizational skills ensure that the Executive Program Office operates with the efficiency and clarity required for continued growth.
Outside of work, Anneke loves to spend time with her partner, family, and friends. She loves being outside, especially when paddleboarding, running, working in a local community garden, and hiking. Her favorite children’s books are The Giving Tree by Shel Silverstein and Biblioburro by Jeanette Winter.
