Welcome, Chandler!

By Daniele Berman, Operations Manager

On May 31, Chandler Rock will be joining the Book Harvest team as our summer intern, and we can’t wait for you to meet her!

Chandler will be gra

duating from UNC this weekend, where she studied sociology and Spanish. In her time at UNC, Chandler has served as the community manager for the Department of Housing and Residence Education as well as the director and K-2 lead teacher for Los Delfines Spanish Immersion Afterschool at McDougle Elementary in Carrboro. She says that some of her favorite memories of her time at UNC come from those work experiences as well as conducting art education classes in a children’s hospital.

As for why she is excited to be working at Book Harvest this summer, Chandler says, “I am so excited to get started at a research-founded, results-driven organization that really cares about the people who benefit from their work. Childhood success should not be negatively determined by class, race, or any other identity that a child is born into; I am inspired by how Book Harvest addresses this achievement gap with love and passion and can’t wait to do my part in this!”

We look forward to having Chandler jump in and get started with us during Books on Break. You’ll also find her in our office Tuesday through Friday through mid-August, so make sure to stop in and introduce yourself!
