New Role Supports Book Harvest's Continued Expansion

Durham, NC – September 18, 2023: Book Harvest, a nonprofit organization dedicated to transforming children’s literacy, is thrilled to announce the appointment of Jeff Quinn as its new Chief Operating Officer, effective September 25, 2023. With an extensive background in public health, program evaluation, operations management, and community engagement, Quinn brings a wealth of expertise to the role.

Quinn joins Book Harvest with a proven track record of leadership and innovation in the nonprofit sector. He holds a Master’s in Public Health from the University of North Carolina Gillings School of Global Public Health and a Bachelor of Arts from Drury University. His unique blend of skills and experience will play a pivotal role in advancing Book Harvest's mission to provide books for every child, support for every family, and literacy for every community.

"We are delighted to welcome Jeff Quinn to the Book Harvest team," said Ginger Young, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Book Harvest. "His public health background – along with his impressive experience with organizational development, program growth, and scaling strategy – will help us increase our impact, scale, and policy influence, toward our big goal of realizing literacy equity for every child.”

In his previous role as National Director of Programs at Family Connects International, Quinn led internal and external operations, building strategic partnerships with philanthropy and community organizations (Book Harvest among them) and overseeing program launches in multiple states. He also spearheaded the organization's diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts, showcasing his dedication to social justice and anti-racist policies.

“Throughout my time in the nonprofit sector, I have come across so many organizations that are doing great things and helping children and families in their community," said Quinn. “Book Harvest is one of those organizations that I have had tremendous respect for as they have been a pillar in Durham and are now looking to expand to other communities in North Carolina and beyond. Ginger and the rest of the Book Harvest team are truly inspirational, and it is an honor and privilege to be able to join them in their mission to ensure that all children grow up in homes that are rich with books.”

Quinn’s appointment is the latest step on the organization’s path to strategic growth and expansion. His leadership comes at a pivotal moment in Book Harvest's history, as the organization seeks to broaden its reach and deepen its impact on children’s literacy.
