Boston-Thurmond United and Book Harvest announced today the successful kickoff of the Boston-Thurmond Book Initiative in Winston-Salem, bringing the joy of book ownership to 125 kindergarten students across three schools this past month.

Book Harvest, in partnership with the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction’s (NCDPI) 21st Century Community Learning Centers (21st CCLC), released the 2025 Summer Reading Engagement Report today.

Book Harvest proudly celebrated its 100th Book Hub on Friday, August 22, at Leigh Farm Park in Durham.

Book Harvest is collaborating with Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina (Blue Cross NC) to engage with families throughout all 100 counties in North Carolina.

Partnering with 19 local organizations and dozens of local leaders, Book Harvest provided 15,331 children’s books.

Book Harvest, a nonprofit organization, has been awarded a $250,000 grant from the William R. Kenan, Jr. Charitable Trust.
