I am delighted to write you with two exciting updates about our Book Harvest Team.
Amy Franks, Learning Partnerships Manager
First, our Learning Partnerships Manager Amy Franks was recently notified that she has been selected to participate in the 2021-22 cohort of the Education Policy Fellowship Program! EPFP is a nationally recognized fellowship program that engages a diverse and collaborative community of strategic leaders to promote equitable education policy.
Meytal Barak, Associate Director for Early Literacy
Second, our Associate Director for Early Literacy Meytal Barak published a Perspective piece in EdNC yesterday, entitled “The Future of North Carolina? His Name is Elias.” This call to action is a powerful testament to the importance of creating a home literacy environment. Take a minute to read it!
In addition, Meytal has been selected as a member of the inaugural class of LatinxEd Fellows, devoted to creating a more inclusive and equitable education system in North Carolina. She joins 14 other distinguished leaders who have firsthand knowledge of the challenges and opportunities facing this growing community.
I am so excited to hear from and learn from Meytal and Amy about their experiences with these fellowships! It’s wonderful to see how the Book Harvest team continues to learn and grow.
