Editor’s note: This month, we welcomed a new home visitor, Temika Jones, to our Book Babies team. We asked her to introduce herself to our community. Please help us welcome Temika to the Book Harvest family!
Growing up I have always found reading as an enjoyable way to not only learn but to explore new places, people, and things without going far. Through reading I have continued to learn more and become even more excited about the opportunities to share what I learn. I enjoy sharing my love of reading with my 6yr old son Christian and 12yr old daughter Morgan who each love to read.
I am originally from Louisiana (Go Saints!) and recently moved to North Carolina after living in Florida for 6 years. My background is Social Work and I am very excited to be at Book Babies to have the opportunity to share my love for reading with families and witness how literacy will change our Book Babies and their families lives. I am excited to be apart of the growth of Book Babies and the impact that the program continues to make in the community and throughout the state of North Carolina.
I love the staff and have felt very blessed to work alongside a group of individuals that are passionate about empowering families and communities one book at a time. I love connecting individuals and organizations with resources and tools that will assist them in enhancing and growing. I love traveling, spending time with family, the beach, and anything outdoors especially attending festivals and learning about different cultures.
