New Video: The Leon Levine Foundation’s Book Abundance Strategy
“I want to read to my sisters so they can be smart and a genius, just like me.”
-- Ari McCarter, age 6
Featured in this new video by The Leon Levine Foundation, Ari and her family are long-time friends of Book Harvest – Ari's mother, Tiara McCarter, has served on the Book Harvest Board of Directors and been around since the organization's earliest days.
Put simply, Tiara is an extraordinary literacy champion. Thanks to her incredible dedication to literacy, reading routines, and home library building, Ari and her sisters not only love reading together as a family, but also identify as readers themselves.
They are a beloved part of the Book Harvest family, and we are so thrilled to see them featured in this new video detailing The Leon Levine Foundation's ambitious investment in book abundance in the Carolinas! Watch the full video here:
The Leon Levine Foundation has committed $10M to build literacy-rich environments in homes across the Carolinas, bringing together Reach Out and Read Carolinas, The North Carolina Partnership for Children (Smart Start), and Book Harvest.
We are honored to be a part of this unprecedented initiative and are proud to share our organization and treasured families through this new video. Because when a child identifies as a reader, like Ari and her sisters, everything changes.
“Together, we can do this,” reflects Ginger Young, Book Harvest’s Founder and CEO, in the video. “Any one of us is doing great work, but when you put it all together, it is mind-blowing in what it may be able to accomplish.”
Thank you to The Leon Levine Foundation for their incredible commitment to literacy. Read more about their book abundance strategy at https://www.bookharvest.org/post/the-leon-levine-foundation-commits-10-million-to-advance-early-literacy-in-underserved-north-caroli.
