Book Harvest is always looking for ways to make it easy for families to access free, high quality, culturally inclusive children’s books. Which is why we love providing workplaces the opportunity to offer free children’s books to their employees — books they get to take home and share with their families!

Last summer, employees with Duke University Dining Services and Facilities Management took home a total of 788 books to the children in their lives. You can read about the August 2021 book provision event and hear from some of the employees who benefited from it in this Duke Today article.
After last year’s success, we once again collaborated with Duke University’s Staff & Family Programs to offer “Books at Work” this summer. Bags of books were provided by Book Harvest and hand delivered by Parker Nelson, one of our amazing Duke University NC LiteracyCorps members, to partnering Duke University departments. “It’s nice to be able to provide something for the staff who work so hard to provide for all Duke students and faculty members. Many of them remembered Book Harvest from last year!” said Parker.
Four departments at Duke received books: Dining Services, Facilities Management, The Little School at Duke, and Duke Children’s Campus. The bags of books were sorted by age/grade level. In total, Book Harvest provided 450 bags (2,181 books)!
