Books from Birth Implementation Specialist
she/her/they/ella

Wilma brings Book Harvests’ Books from Birth program to locations across North Carolina and beyond, focusing on partnerships with pediatric healthcare practices and systems. Her skills training professional practitioners and system administrators along with her experience working directly with families and children ensure that the program can optimally nurture the seeds of early language development from a baby’s earliest days.

Wilma began her work at Book Harvest as the Pre-K and Kindergarten Transition Supports Coordinator, working with Book Babies families to navigate the bridge to formal education settings that requires often-daunting administrative obstacles. Out of this experience, she developed Book Harvest’s Ready for School guide, now a sought-after tool for childcare centers and professionals along with families across communities.

Wilma began her professional career as a kindergarten teacher after leadership roles at Americorps and Jumpstart. She received a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology and African-American History from Fordham University and a Master of Arts from Relay Graduate School of Education.
