Favorite Children’s Book Right Now: “Good Night, Gorilla” by Peggy Rathmann

Likes & Loves: Her favorite thing to do is spend time with her family. She enjoys watching movies all together with a good bowl of popcorn. She also enjoys reading romance books.

What and where she’s studied: Mechanical Engineer, Universidad de Carabobo, Valencia, Venezuela 2001. Psychology for management and communication. Finance for non-financial executives. Workshops in Customer Service and Process Control systems.

Experience: Maria was a Book Babies mom from 2017-2021! As a program parent, she was able to see first-hand the benefits of Book Babies. She was also an official Book Babies Parent Partner at Book Harvest in 2018 and worked with the Book Babies RCT Project from March 2019-March 2020, and as Book Babies Coordinator until July 2023. She’s worked extensively with families of Group B and Group C in Durham and Winston-Salem.

What she’s hopeful for: Maria knows the future is created by the decisions we make in the present. Book Harvest and its programs give us the opportunity to paint a beautiful multicolored future with children who will grow up with minds fed with knowledge and experiences that they will acquire through literature that will help them make the best decisions for themselves and around them. Our children are the best future we have.
