Jasmine Richards
Early Literacy Assistant - AmeriCorps Member at NC Literacy Corps
Jasmine Richards is an Early Literacy Assistant with NC LiteracyCorps. In her role, Jasmine promotes early literacy by encouraging a love for reading and fostering a lifelong passion for learning. She plays a key role in data collection and helps create welcoming, inclusive spaces where children and families can grow through the joy of reading.
She is currently pursuing her master’s degree in Criminal Justice at North Carolina Central University. Her professional interests center on youth advocacy, mental health awareness, and equitable access to resources. Jasmine is passionate about empowering young people to reach their full potential.
Jasmine believes that literacy is the foundation for building confidence and connection. Outside of work, she loves anime—her favorite being Hunter x Hunter—and enjoys collecting Stitch-related items and diving into a good book. She spends her quality time with her fiancée Brandi, their son, and their two pets. A children’s book that resonates deeply with her is The Day You Begin by Jacqueline Woodson, which she sees as a powerful reminder to embrace your authentic self and share your uniqueness with the world.
