Gia Parker
Family Engagement Coordinator

As Family Engagement Coordinator, Gia Parker (she/her) manages Book Harvest Durham’s Family Space, greets the public, shares about programming, and provides exceptional hospitality to all who come into our space. Bilingual in English and Spanish, Gia engages with children, families, teachers, nonprofit partners, book donors, volunteers, funders, and many others on a daily basis and provides vital support to Book Harvest Durham’s family and community engagement work.
Gia received her BA in Psychology and Spanish at James Madison University, then lived in Seville, Spain and worked as a Language Teaching Assistant collaborating with teachers to promote literacy, and a lifelong love for reading and cultural awareness. She is an experienced researcher, language learner, avid reader and book reviewer. Gia is also a dancer and event organizer, having planned the largest dance showcase on the East Coast while serving as President of the Mozaic Dance Team.
