Erika Stewart
Senior Associate Director, Early Literacy, Forsyth
Erika has lead the Book Babies program in Forsyth County since 2018, when she implemented the first replication of the model outside of Durham county as a part of the non-profit Imprints Cares in Winston-Salem. She has worked alongside the Book Harvest Book Babies program throughout this time, and is excited to join the staff of Book Harvest as we continue to grow the reach and impact of the program.
Erika has spent over 30 years working with women and families in a variety of settings, including schools, community centers, shelters, prisons, and treatment programs in addition to their own homes. She has worked with adults and children individually, but is most passionate about and committed to holistic, intergenerational work with families to address access to education, safety and opportunity.
Erika received her B.A. in Psychology and German from Mount Holyoke College, and M.Ed. in Human Development and Psychology from the Harvard Graduate School of Education.
She lives in Winston-Salem with her husband, 2 sons and 2 dogs, and enjoys spending time in nature, hiking or gardening, skiing, yoga and music.
