Alisa Miller
Senior Associate Director, Family Engagement
As Associate Director of Family Engagement, Alisa Miller is a key leader responsible for the high-quality execution and day-to-day operations of all parent-focused programming and community partnerships in Durham County. Alisa serves as a strategic liaison and interdepartmental advocate for families, ensuring that the organization’s initiatives are deeply rooted in the needs and strengths of the community. She directs the implementation of parent-facing programs, manages the Family Advisory Board, and coordinates workshops that empower parents and caregivers to be their children’s most effective champions and literacy leaders.
Alisa brings over 13 years of direct experience in early education settings to her leadership role. Her expertise in navigating complex family dynamics and building authentic, intentional collaborations is informed by her first-hand experience as a former Book Babies parent. This unique perspective allows her to bridge the gap between organizational strategy and family experience, fostering a culture of literacy through deep cultural competence and empathy.
Alisa holds a BS in Child Development and Family Relations and a Master’s in Human Development and Family Studies from North Carolina Central University. Since joining the team in 2021, she has become a master of building powerful alliances and orchestrating collaborative success across departments to ensure that every family has the tools and influence to support their child’s journey as a lifelong learner.
