What she does at Book Harvest: As the Family Engagement Manager, Alisa partners with parents and families to ensure that their perspectives inform Book Harvest's programming and events. She also creates networking and social opportunities.

Favorite Children’s Book: Hair Love by Matthew A. Cherry. She had to learn to love her natural hair as an adult and reading Hair Love with her daughter has allowed her to grow to love her natural hair.

Likes & Loves: Alisa loves spending time with her family, trying out different foods, binge watching her favorite TV shows, watching hair and makeup YouTube tutorials, listening to music, and relaxing with a good book.

Where she studied: She has a Bachelors of Science in Child Development and Family Relations from North Carolina Central University. She has a Masters in Human Development and Family Studies from NCCU.

Experience: She has worked in the field of education for 13 years and has experience in early childhood and elementary education.

What she’s hopeful for: Her hope for the future is for her children — and all children – to live in a world where they feel accepted and equal.
