Adé Newkirk
Social Media Coordinator
Growing up in Charlotte, NC, Adesina has always loved a good story. From attending theatre and modern dance performances, costuming musicals in high school, to turning on NPR in the car — she experienced firsthand how effective and creative storytelling can be to open hearts and change minds.
Right as she completed her AAS in American Sign Language interpretation at CPCC, the pandemic rerouted her career plans. She went on to complete a BA in Communications with a minor in Advertising and Public relations at UNC Chapel Hill.
During her time in undergrad, she managed social media and content creation for the UNC Communications department, completed internships in strategic communications at Service Now and digital communications at Digital Promise, and served as the social media co-chair for the People Ideas and Things (PIT) podcast.
After graduation, she managed social media for Embodied at WUNC and served as the Communications Manager for the Coalition of Occupational Therapists for Diversity (COTAD).
All of these experiences have fostered her deep love for critical theory, educational equity, visual storytelling, and social advocacy.
Adesina is now the Social Media Coordinator at Book Harvest.
