Carrie Norry
Carrie Norry is a passionate community member with a wealth of experience in nonprofit management as an Executive Director, Board Chair, and Trustee. She was the Founder and Executive Director of JUST TRYAN IT, an organization focused on supporting families battling pediatric cancer and inspiring kids to make a difference in the world, overseeing its expansion into three new states. She has served as an Interim Executive Director at Beth El Synagogue and the Lerner School, and was a long-time member of the Judea Reform Congregation Board and Executive Committee. Currently, Carrie is the Board Chair for Hope Renovations in Carrboro, NC, which prepares underemployed women and gender expansive individuals for construction careers. Prior to her career in the non-profit sector, Carrie was an educator, spending many years as a math teacher, coach, technology director, and curriculum leader. She once rallied her entire PK-12 school to collect one million pennies!
Today, Carrie spends a great deal of her time working to resettle refugees in our community. She is passionate about the pursuit of mission, organizational leadership, and efficiency. Carrie believes that when children have early opportunities to do good in the world, they are inspired to strive for a better tomorrow.
A native North Carolinian, Carrie holds a BA from Washington University in St. Louis, majoring in Chemistry, and a Masters in Educational Leadership from Teachers College, Columbia University. She and her husband Doug are the proud parents of Will, Emily, and Kate.
