100 Day Countdown to Dream Big!

by Ginger Young, Executive Director

Hello, Book Harvest family! Our team has been hard at work laying the groundwork for our biggest event of the year – and I am so delighted to share the details with you today!

Exactly 100 days from today, Book Harvest will hold its 10th annual MLK Day Dream Big Book Drive & Community Celebration! On Monday, January 18 from noon until 4pm, we will honor Dr. King with our 10th annual celebration of kids and books at Durham Central Park. MARK YOUR CALENDAR!

Dream Big 2021 will be a festive and safe drive-through extravaganza. Mascots and characters from beloved children’s books will receive your book donations and share bags of books with children who come with their families. PLUS, we will release our first-ever Dream Big Telecast, featuring entertaining and inspiring messages to participants near and far!

Make plans to join us for Dream Big 2021! Here are two exciting ways to get involved, starting today:

It’s a fabulous – and easy – way to honor Dr. King’s legacy of service. With Book Harvest’s Dream Big Book Drive Toolkit, you have everything you need for a fun and high-impact service project for your neighborhood, school, workplace, scout troop, civic group, congregation, or book club. It’s not too early to get started – and to get a book drive yard sign while they last. Sign up here!

Demonstrate your commitment to ensuring that every child has an abundance of books at home. As a sponsor, you, your business, your school, or your civic organization will be recognized as a game-changer for children and families throughout North Carolina. Learn more HERE!

During this stressful time, the joy of reading and sharing stories brings exuberance, comfort, and learning to children. As the late Honorable Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg said,

Reading shaped my dreams,

and more reading helped me make my dreams come true.

I hope to see you 100 days from now, at Dream Big 2021. Together, we can make big dreams come true for all the children in our midst.
